We will take you to the ancient temples of Agrigento and then for a walk over natural white terraces by the sea during the sunset. Discover incredible and rich traditions of Easter full of exotic religious rituals, delicious food and music.

Day 1
10th april 2020
​
Our trip starts in Catania (possible airport transfer or a changing point for visiting other parts of Sicily like Taormina, Messina or Palermo) from where we organize bus transfer to Montedoro in Central Sicily. This lovely town is situated on rolling green hills and is famous for its Astronomical Observatory and unique Easter traditions consisting of very rare, old style of singing called “Lamenti”.

After the transfer to Hotel Diffuso Montedoro our guests will have a chance to participate in the procession on Holy Friday and have a walk on the hills of Montedoro. In the evening we offer dinner in our restaurant - Le Cupolette Rosse with the typical dishes of Holy Friday - which is based on fresh fish and organically grown vegetables accompanied with typical wine from the region. After dinner we invite everybody to visit the Astronomical Observatory to watch the stars (guided tour available in Italian, English and Polish).
Day 2

After having an italian breakfast in our hotel lobby (we offer fresh croissants, yogurt, fruits and strong espresso or cappuccino) you are transferred by bus (approximately 40 minutes travel) to the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento for a 2-3 hour walking and sightseeing tour. (Lunch box for the trip will be provided and ready for pick up after breakfast.)
Valley of the Temples is an archaeological site of Agrigento (ancient Greek Akragas), in Sicily. It is one of the most remarkable examples of art and architecture from the Greater Greece era, and is one of the main attractions of Sicily, as well as a national monument of Italy. The area was included on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997.After visiting the Valley of the Temples you will be transferred to the city center of Agrigento where you will be provided free time for shopping and sightseeing.
Our next stop will be the walk by the sea on the beautiful natural terraces of Turkish Stairs near the city of Porto Empedocle. Scala dei Turchi (Turkish Stairs) is a rocky wall (cliff) that rises above the sea along the coast of Realmonte, in the province of Agrigento. Over time it has become a tourist attraction due to the uniqueness of the cliff, which is white and has peculiar shapes. We will stay at the seashore until sunset to observe this beautiful spectacle. After sundown we will travel back to Montedoro for a special dinner with wine tasting.
Our restaurant - Le Cupolette Rosse, brings in the Sicilian hinterland with typical family kitchen flavors where the scent of the sea blends with our local products supplied by local farmers.
Day 3
12th april 2020

After breakfast you will have a chance to participate in the Holy Sunday procession in Montedoro - to explore beautiful rituals showing the strong roots of Christianity in Sicily. There will also be a possibility to participate in a guided tour through traditional houses of rural Sicily.
After the procession and the mass we invite you for a special Pasqua lunch. This festive lunch in Sicily is really enjoyable and contains many courses: appetizers, first and second dishes accompanied with wine, sweets and digestivo drink at the end.
After a short break and a chance to rest in the hotel we invite you to visit San Biagio - the town famous for Easter decorations and we will travel by bus to Platani (1 hour trip) to take a walk under the arches made of grass, grain, bread and sweets.
We will culminate this day with a pizza dinner and afterparty - a night of music and dance - our farewell to everybody.
Day 4
13th april 2020

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and transfer back to Catania by bus.
There is a possibility to extend your stay according to transfer plans or customer wishes.
